CHIA SCHOLARSHIPS

CHIA is committed to helping Health Information Administration (HIA) and Health Information Technology (HIT) students complete their education and enable them to successfully embark on their Health Information Management (HIM) career path. In 1982, CHIA established its first Student Scholarship program, honoring Faye Brown, RHIA, with its name.

Student scholarships are funded by generous donations to the CHIA Student Scholarship Fund from CHIA members and CHIA vendor partners. The total amount of scholarship funds to be awarded from the CHIA Student Scholarship Fund for the fiscal year is determined by the CHIA Board of Directors.  Additional scholarships are funded by CHIA vendor partners. Vendor partners may sponsor specific scholarships or may make donations directly to the Student Scholarship Fund.

An article will be placed in November or December/January issue of the CHIA Journal announcing eligibility criteria and application instructions for the CHIA Student Scholarships. Applicants must apply by March 1st annually.

To get more information and an application for the CHIA Scholarship Program, please Click Here. The application form is also placed in the December-January issue annually.

HIA/HIT Program Instructors may get information regarding the HIA and HIT Program Grants by clicking here.

Contributions / Donations
As a non-profit educational association (IRS: 501-(c)(3)) contributions to the CHIA Scholarship Fund and FAME funds are tax-deductible. A suggested contribution of five ($5.00) dollars is solicited from the membership in conjunction with the annual dues assessment notice. Monies collected from the annual Silent Auction held at the State Convention & Exhibit also go to these two funds.

To recognize the generosity of individual members who contribute five ($5.00) dollars or more to the scholarship fund, CHIA will print the names of contributors in a CHIA Journal. Their name will also appear on the CHIA Web site Donor page. Those who donate to these funds may do so ’in honor’ or ’in memory’ of another individual, if they wish.

Donations will be deposited into the funds as designated by the donor. If there is no designation, the funds will be deposited equally in the established funds.

Donations will be accepted at CHIA Executive Office at anytime throughout the year, including with annual membership dues assessment. To get a Donation Form Click Here
