Where the Future Clicks: A Career in Health Information Management

There are distinct career paths in the health information management (HIM) field. This dynamic profession has just the career for you.

The health care industry continues to undergo dramatic changes in the delivery of care. These changes have had an exciting impact on the health information management delivery. Many HIM professionals are working outside the acute care hospital setting. The U.S. World and News Report 1997 Annual Career Guide published by the American Hospital Association predicted that there would be a 56% shortage of credentialed HIM professionals by the year 2000.

Additional information regarding the HIM field including a list of the colleges that provide degree programs in HIM, may be obtained by visiting these pages, Your Future in HIM and HIA/HIT programs (in California).
