AHIMA Delegate Candidate Marie Conde

Marie Conde

Position Statement

As a professional organization, CHIA makes great strides in carrying out its mission “to advance the management of health information through networking, education, shared knowledge, and advocacy.” We continue to embrace change and align initiatives and goals with AHIMA’s strategic plan.

Members of CHIA are the voice of the association and have a right to be heard. As an AHIMA Delegate, it would be my mission to listen to your needs, ideas and concerns, and to articulate your voice at the AHIMA House of Delegates (HOD). My responsibilities to promote the voice of our members is to advocate the following:

  • Communicate with CHIA Board Liaisons to increase transparency by sharing member feedback at the HOD. Provide updates from topics discussed at the HOD through WebEx conference calls, allowing members to participate, ask questions and make recommendation Support the local and state associations’ continuing education programs with emphasis on HIM Re-imagined initiatives to provide additional education to coding professionals to meet the needs of future positions such as coding transitioning to data analytic roles.
  • Recruit members to volunteer, network and participate on various committees at the national, state, and local levels.
  • Encourage members to exercise their right to vote. CHIA has over 2,500 members and voting has not been a priority for several years. This has been an ongoing concern at the national level as well.

As an HIM Educator and active member of AHIMA, CHIA and NCHIA, for over 35 years, I am proud to work with a myriad of talented individuals who tirelessly support our profession and keep abreast with the fast-paced changes in the health care industry.

Volunteering on committees, networking, learning from and teaching others are staples of my career. It would be an honor to represent a diverse group of members as delegate to AHIMA
