January 17, 2012. Governor Brown announced the appointment of CHIA member Pamela Lane, MS, RHIA, CPHIMS, as the new deputy secretary of the health information exchange at the California Health and Human Services Agency.
“The California Health Information Association (CHIA) congratulates Pam on this appointment and looks forward to her success in leading California’s efforts to achieve statewide electronic health data exchange, uniform interoperability standards, and widespread adoption of health information technologies,” said LaVonne LaMoureaux, RHIA, CAE, Executive Director of CHIA. “The healthcare community and consumers will benefit by the statewide E.H.R. adoption and health information exchange, and we are pleased to have a health information management professional of Pam’s caliber leading the way. We look forward to the contributions she will make to the health information industry and wish her success as she works with stakeholders to move health information exchange forward in California.”
Pam Lane stated, “It is an honor to be named to this important leadership role. As a career health information management professional, I join with others who believe the value of patient care information is not in the ‘paper’ but in the data that can drive care decisions. I’m delighted to be asked to lead California’s team to ensure that electronic data is available on the correct patient, at the right time, in the right place and for the right reasons. We can do no less on behalf of our patients and the health care delivery system. I know my CHIA colleagues join me in this exciting challenge.”
Pam Lane has been vice president of health informatics at the California Hospital Association since 2007. She was senior director of revenue cycle management at NorthBay Healthcare from 2005 to 2007, director of business operations and health information management at Lompoc Healthcare District from 2001 to 2005, a senior installation specialist at Quadramed Corporation from 1998 to 2005 and director of health information management at the Westerly Hospital from 1992 to 1998. She is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Gulf War campaign. This position does not require Senate confirmation.
