CHIA Leadership Nomination Process

Nominations for CHIA Board of Directors and AHIMA Delegates for the CHIA Ballot are now being accepted through Friday, October 12, 2018. To submit a nomination, complete the online CHIA Leadership Application Form

  • This form can be completed in multiple sittings, with the progress saved to enable users to return and edit responses.

The business and affairs of CHIA are managed under the direction of its Board of Directors. The CHIA Board consists of seven elected positions; President, President-elect, Past President, and four Directors (staggered for two-year terms). Additionally, CHIA elects representatives to represent its membership at the national level and serve as delegates to AHIMA’s governing body – the House of Delegates. Annually, the CHIA nomination process takes place in the Fall with the election occurring in January and the elected officials taking office on July 1.

CHIA is seeking qualified and experienced members for its leadership positions and we are interested in you! We all have many gifts and talents, why not consider sharing these talents as a CHIA Officer or Delegate? With your help, we can continue the tradition of nominating highly qualified and experienced members.

The elected positions to be filled consist of President-elect, CHIA Director, and AHIMA Delegate. Please carefully refer to the Duties, Qualifications and Commitments of the CHIA Board of Directors and AHIMA Delegate positions to learn more about these leadership positions. AHIMA offers a Volunteer Competencies Self-Assessment tool to assist in self assessing your level of leadership skills and abilities.

The benefits of serving in these leadership roles are many. You will have the opportunity to positively affect the growth and direction of the health information management (HIM) profession, influence policy at the early stages for the Association, and to network with CHIA members and members of other professional associations.

We encourage you to seek one of the CHIA elected positions or assist the CHIA Nominating Committee by identifying CHIA members who will provide strong leadership for CHIA in the years ahead. To be eligible to hold CHIA office, one must be an Active member of CHIA (includes Active, Emeritus, Honorary, Graduate members). Each term of office for the 2019 CHIA Ballot will begin July 1, 2019.
