    PART 1: ICD-10-CM

    Program Description
    FY2022 ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting include several new key instructions and valuable information. The biggest news is the "Post COVID-19" guidance for assigning/reporting code U07.9. In addition, Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) guidelines have some new information. General Coding Guidelines and the Chapter Specific Guidelines both contain additions or revisions for FY2022 which take effect on October 1, 2021, including the coding of "Laterality". "Documentation by Clinicians Other than the Patient's Provider", "Medical Conditions Due to Psychoactive Substance Use, Abuse and Dependence" and the coding of "Blood Alcohol Level", plus more.  All the changes are extremely important to the health information medical coding professional as well as the clinical documentation integrity professional.  Accurate clinical coding and ensuring compliance should be a top a priority and goal for all healthcare settings. 

    Attendees will:

    • Review changes to the FY2021 Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting

    PART 2: ICD-10-PCS

    Program Description
    Keeping up to date on the annual ICD-10-PCS coding changes is imperative for all hospital inpatient medical coding and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) professionals. This webinar will discuss the CMS published ICD-10-PCS Guidelines and Procedure code updates effective October 1, 2021, FY 2022. The updated ICD-10-PCS codes contain 191 new codes, 62 revised titles, and 107 deleted codes, bringing the 2022 ICD-10-PCS code set total to 78,220.  All the changes are extremely important to the health information medical coding professional. Accurate clinical coding and meeting compliance is a priority and goal for all healthcare settings.

    Monica Leisch has over 40 years of experience in Health Information Management. She has worked as an HIM Director in a variety of settings including Acute Care, Acute Rehab, Chemical Dependency, and SNF.     Program Description
    October 1, 2021 brings with it changes to the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) impacting acute healthcare organizations.  Once again significant changes are coming. This webinar will provide detailed information about MS-DRG Relative Weight and Length of Stay changes as well as new MS-DRGs and shifts in MS-DRGs for FY2022.  Documentation tips will be provided to help with challenges in capturing specific diagnoses and new technology procedures and services.
