Are Robots stealing our Health Data?

Presenter: Alyssa Ehrlich, JD, ESQ

Updates on AI laws/technology & AI-related breaches, hacks, and vulnerabilities. With AI being used in daily life, imagine its widespread application in the healthcare space, with both positive and negative implications. Then imagine all the hacks, fraud alerts and spam you receive daily; now imagine those same threats impacting the larger healthcare arena. Such implications can be extremely beneficial; however, with healthcare data being at an all-time high value (other than financial information), such breaches of information may also be deadly and costly.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand and learn the updates on AI legislation, including federal, state and international laws
  • Identify updated guidance and controls to implement in the healthcare space
  • Describe the pros and cons of using AI, the most common vulnerabilities and attacks in AI and healthcare
  • Share examples and case examples of AI where it has significantly reduced costs in healthcare, increased quality of care, and drastically cost healthcare companies financially and hurt patients' sensitive data

Harnessing Custom AI Workflows in Healthcare with ComfyUI & LMStudio

Presenter: David Marc, PhD, CHDA

AI innovation is often associated with costly platforms or cloud subscriptions; however, healthcare professionals can now build secure, customized tools that run entirely on local machines at no additional cost. This session will introduce attendees to free, locally running AI platforms, including ComfyUI for image and workflow generation and LM Studio for large language model deployment, tailored to the needs of healthcare information professionals. Participants will see real-world examples of how to streamline repetitive tasks, support staff and improve data management without compromising security. By adopting locally run AI, participants will serve as stewards of the environment by conserving sustainability resources that are often consumed when prompts are processed through proprietary cloud-based large language models. This session will empower healthcare professionals to confidently explore practical, ethical and sustainable approaches to AI adoption in their organizations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the basic functions of ComfyUI and LMStudio as free, locally running AI platforms
  • Identify opportunities to apply these tools to health information management tasks
  • Demonstrate how to set up and customize workflows in ComfyUI and LMStudio for practical use cases
  • Evaluate the benefits of locally run AI for protecting data privacy and security in healthcare settings
  • Apply principles of sustainable and ethical AI adoption by comparing local deployment with proprietary, cloud-based solutions
