Ms. O’Brien is a health care attorney whose areas of specialization include privacy and confidentiality laws. Her prior experiences at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Stanford Health Care provided the unique opportunities to work directly with health information management professionals, patients, law enforcement, the media, and other stakeholders on privacy investigations, patient rights, and regulatory compliance. She works closely with engineers, healthcare startups, and electronic health records systems to design auditing systems and implement technical safeguards. Ms. O’Brien was previously a high school special education teacher and uses her teaching background to help make complex laws more user-friendly and approachable. ![]() Andrew Tomlinson, JD
In his current role at AHIMA, Andrew advocates on behalf of AHIMA members on issues related to the intersection of technology and healthcare both domestically and abroad. Prior to his time at AHIMA, Andrew served as the Director of Federal Affairs at the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and as a Director of External Affairs at United Health Group. Andrew has worked on health IT policy for over 10 years, including during a six-year career at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) that culminated with a posting focused on international health IT issues and stakeholder engagement for the National Coordinator.
