Something from Sally - President’s Message: Gratitude
Behind the Leader is a Great Team – My Sincere Thanks to Our Executive Office Team
Last month’s Something from Sally allowed me to thank every member, delegate and leader for their tireless work to move CHIA forward into the future “Igniting a New Course for the Future of CHIA”. Now, as my term as President is ending and I pass the torch on to Connie Renda, I am compelled to express my sincere gratitude to the Team Behind the Leader, our CHIA Executive Team led by CEO/Executive Director Sharon Lewis.
As a volunteer organization, we rely on members to commit valuable time to making our visions a reality. We might forget the work that takes place behind the scenes to support the efforts of the volunteer workforce, ensuring California’s health information community receives its many benefits. It
is my honor to express my gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the Board of Directors and CHIA leadership to
the brilliant team behind everything CHIA: Debi Boynton, Operations and Finance Manager,
Stefanie Granda, Accounting and Database Administrator, Janessa Moya, Membership and Event Coordinator,
Adriana Silva, Accounting and Administrative Assistant, Cindy Doyon, Content Editor,
Mary Kay Campbell, Marketing and Communications Specialist and especially Sharon Lewis, CEO/Executive Director who has been my constant champion and supporter over the last year. Sharon and her team make sure
CHIA achieves its goals by backing up the volunteer efforts to ensure success. Truly, I have been able to “Keep
it Simple Sally” while making marked changes that have made a difference for CHIA this year. Please join me in
expressing personal thanks to these ladies when you see them at CHIACON24!
In closing, serving as your CHIA President has been my pleasure. Thank you for the support and comradery over this last year. It has been my privilege as we look forward to 2024-2025.

Register for Member Town Hall Meeting May 7
We and Round Three | 5:00 – 6:00 PM | Click Here to Register
Join CHIA's town hall event, 'We and Round Three,' where CHIA President Sally Gibbs will answer your questions regarding the proposed ‘round three' bylaw changes. If you haven’t joined in the discussions so far, plan now to attend this final Town Hall Meeting.
The CHIA Board of Directors has approved its 'Round-Three' proposed changes to the CHIA Bylaws, which are now available for review on the House of Delegates resources page. These changes will be voted on during the May 16, 2024, virtual CHIA House of Delegates. These ‘round-three’ amendments to the CHIA Bylaws provide an innovative way to connect California’s health information community by forming Component Groups. Additional changes include clean-up language and a few amendments that continue to align CHIA's bylaws with those required by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) under CHIA’s Affiliation Agreement.

A Note from Connie Renda, MA, RHIA, CHDA - President–elect 2023-2024
CHIA is deeply committed to advancing the field of health information, fostering connections within California’s Health Information (HI) community, and strengthening the association through LEAD - Leadership, Education, Advocacy, and Discovery. Your participation through volunteering is integral to CHIA’s mission as it enriches and fortifies the association, offering meaningful avenues to contribute to the HI profession.
Whether you're seeking a year-round commitment or prefer short-term projects, The Board welcomes CHIA Members to find their place and earn AHIMA continuing education units (CEUs).
New this year, we have implemented Sign-up Genius to make it easy to volunteer and find other HI professionals you want to volunteer with on topics that are meaningful to you!

Thank you in advance, Connie

In celebration of CHIA’s 75 Years, the CHIACON24 celebration party theme is Diamonds & Denim in the Desert! Denim has long been associated with strength, durability and freedom – like iconic jeans. Diamonds are the gem representing 75 years; so, it is only suiting that you dress in your favorite denim apparel and accent with diamonds and bling when you join your colleagues in celebrating 75 years of providing health information integrity in the HI industry through the California Health Information Association’s efforts – a celebration of membership.
Come prepared to show off your Diamonds and Denim in the Desert … swap stories with your colleagues, take photo memories, and enjoy delectable food, libations, and entertainment. A Diamonds and Denim in the Desert ticket is included with the Full Basic – PLUS package. A separate ticket may be added to your purchase for all other registration options or guests. Ticket availability will be limited, so sign up now. Each purchased ticket includes one (1) CHIA-sponsored drink ticket.
