Three Component Groups Launching for 2025-2026

Medical Coding Community | HI Operations Work Group | HI & Emerging Professionals Mentor Network

The first three Component Groups (CG) are now open to any CHIA Professional and CHIA Emerging Professional Member. These innovative groups will be the first to launch in 2025-26.

  • Professional Development - CGs offer ways to enhance skills and knowledge in specialized topics, such as ROI, and others.
  • Networking Opportunities - Enable CHIA members with shared interests and professional goals to promote relationships.
  • Advocacy - Ensure your voice is heard on important issues in the HI community, influencing policy and practices.
  • Leadership- Opportunity to take on a leadership role within the group, fostering professional growth.


Just click Join Group on the User Platform. Although the group is marked as PRIVATE, by clicking join, you are now part of a component group that is exclusive to CHIA members. Dual Membership (AHIMA + CHIA) ensures membership into these CGs.

Volunteer Workgroups Ignite Initiatives for New Term

The Board of Directors approved the 2025-26 Success Measures for all Volunteer Workgroups and CHIA’s L EAD Teams, outlining strategic, educational and operational initiatives for this fiscal year. Board of Directors Approves Increase for Scholarships

Annual Student Scholarships Increase to $1,000 for 2025-2026

CHIA will award up to five (5) scholarships to members currently enrolled in a CAHIIM-accredited HIA/HIT program, who are pursuing a specialty or higher health information credential than they currently hold (e.g., CCS or CCS-P pursuing RHIT or RHIA; RHIT pursuing RHIA) or, enrolled in a post-graduate degree program in a HI-related field.   
This fund supports CHIA’s value and dedication to practice excellence through LEADleadership, education, advocacy and discovery, while promoting the importance of acquiring health information (HI) professional credentials, strengthening the HI profession through education, and membership in AHIMA and CHIA.

CHIA Chasing Points to LEAD the Component Association Competition for AHIMA

AHIMA has endorsed HR3514 / S1816, the reintroduced, bipartisan, Improving Seniors' Timely Access to Care Act, to establish a standard process and increased transparency for prior authorization use with Medicare Advantage (MA) plans among other provisions. Please write to your members of Congress and ask them to support this legislation.

Remember....CHIA’s advocacy efforts support and contribute to AHIMA’s grassroots component association competition, where California’s HI leaders through CHIA, are challenging each other to make a difference as the LEADing Component Association. All CHIA members are asked to ACT NOW by clicking TAKE ACTION to have our CHIA voices heard.
