Program Description
Don't be fooled! April 1, 2024, will bring another update to the ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding classifications. Medical coding professionals and CDI specialists will want to attend this webinar to get the latest information and be ready for those changes.
While the April 2024 ICD-10-CM update does not include any new codes, there are impactful note changes that coding professionals must be aware of. These affect Excludes1 and Excludes2 notes and Code first notes. Examples will be provided during the webinar.
There are however significant changes being made to ICD-10-PCS with the addition of 41 new codes. More than half of these codes are related to hand-assisted laparoscopic procedures. Several examples will be provided so attendees will come away with a clear understanding of the change and how the new qualifier should be applied, along with the specific root operations to which the qualifier applies. Additionally, irreversible electroporation, pedicled omentoplasty, and choanal dilation will be addressed.
Attendees will:
- Identify ICD-10-CM note revisions that impact sequencing
- Understand the revision to ICD-10-PCS Brachytherapy guideline D1.a
- Examine ICD-10-PCS definition updates
- Recognize the significant change to coding for hand-assisted laparoscopic procedures
- Identify the appropriate new qualifier
- Correlate the applicable root operations
- Gain an understanding of a new type of cardiac ablation procedure: irreversible electroporation
